Brainspire Solutions, a Denver based custom software development consulting firm, develops and donates mobile application to raise money for KidsTek.
As part of a coordinated effort between the Colorado Chapter of The Society for Information Management (SIM-Colorado) and Colorado Technology Association (CTA), Brainspire developed a mobile application for use at a local charity event held Tuesday evening at Galvanized.
The “SIM Tank” fundraising event was based on the concept of Shark Tank, the popular ABC TV show where entrepreneurs have the opportunity to pitch their ideas to potential investors. At the “SIM Tank” event, four startup companies from the Denver area were selected to pitch their ideas to local venture capital investors in order to receive feedback and advice. The audience was comprised of nearly 100 local technology executives from Denver’s most prominent companies.
To make the evening more interactive, Brainspire developed a mobile application for each audience members to invest $1 million in “play” money among the four presenting startup companies. The mobile application also allowed audience members to submit comments which the entrepreneurs can review to improve their products and go-to market approach. With the results of the audience’s mock investments, the company that solicited the most money through the mobile application was awarded a check from SIM-Colorado for $2,250.
The event was a fundraiser for KidsTek, a local non-profit organization focused on providing Colorado’s underserved youth, grades K-12, with an invaluable technology education. The “SIM Tank” event raised over $20,000 for KidsTek through event sponsorship and entrance fees paid by all attendees.
“Brainspire was thrilled to have the opportunity to develop a mobile application to be used at the fundraising event. As Colorado is one of the top states for technology startups and employers continue to find it difficult to hire qualified technical professionals, it’s important to educate our kids about technology in order to help everyone prepare for the future,” commented DJ Wardynski, President of Brainspire.
