Situation

OnPoint Medical Group is a physician-led network of skilled primary and urgent care providers who are committed to expanding access to quality healthcare in the most effective and affordable manner possible.
As one of Colorado’s largest healthcare providers, OnPoint acquired multiple urgent cares and primary practices in 2018 and 2019 and has plans to acquire additional practices in the future.
OnPoint leverages Athenahealth as the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
With each acquisition, OnPoint was incurring large patient data migration costs at a slow and inconsistent pace from 3rdparty patient record migration companies.

OnPoint hired Brainspire to create configurable software to be owned by OnPoint Medical Group for importing the medical record data from various 3rdparty EMR systems into the Athenahealth system.
At its core, the software translates CDA EMR file data into a format that can be imported into AthenaNet.
Additional patient data, including PDFs, Word documents, rich text files, flat text files, and PACS images are migrated and stored on a secure, cloud-based website for easy retrieval of unstructured PHI data and accessed through AthenaNet via a link on the patient record.
Other features of the HIPAA compliant solution include search, PHI audit logging, and the ability to print an entire patient legacy chart

OnPoint now owns software and a cloud-based development, test, and production environment for efficient migration of patient records.
The configurable software can be enhanced with each acquisition to handle data migration from a variety of EMR systems.
With each acquisition, migration costs decrease, and the timeline is reduced.
OnPoint is no longer dependent on 3rdparty migration firms.
